Operational efficiencies, reduced risk, strengthened controls and improved customer service are keys to the future success of Healthcare institutions. Addressing document-intensive processes is a critical step in gaining a competitive advantage. Moving to a paperless environment will help companies achieve this advantage
Medical and healthcare organizations must navigate through a complex maze of data every day. Scanning and imaging medical documents reduces physical file storage to a minimum. Archiving patient records and other medical business practice documents in electronic form is simpler than manual filing and a good deal more accurate. No more trips to storage when old patient records must be retrieved. Lost medical documents and missing patient charts become a thing of the past since they are scanned images being controlled by a medical document management system.
Filescan Solutions combines the best of breed capture technology with leading edge document management solutions and services. Our solutions provide Healthcare organizations with unparalleled automation, visibility and control of the workflow process, giving them the ability to realize significant benefits such as: Better access to data that will help them prevent, diagnose, and treat disease. Doctors, pharmaceutical companies, and researchers are able to electronically mine databases of patient information to diagnose disease or develop safer clinical studies, reduced accounts receivable cycles, improved patient care, compliance with HIPAA, streamlined efficiencies including measurable savings in administrative costs and more efficient information retrieval, leading to enhanced accountability which optimizes corporate performance.
We understand that hospitals and medical offices have some of the strictest requirements for confidentiality. That is why we have a special set of procedures we adhere to when providing medical support. These procedures include secure image capture and text extraction, a superior quality control cycle, bonded employees, and secure destruction options. With experience in the medical arena, we are confident in our ability to meet every one of your expectations.
Examples of documents that can be usefully digitized include:
- Medical Records
- Nursing Services

- Rehabilitation Medicine
- Human Services
Since each scenario is unique, we encourage you to contact us and learn more about how we can help you decide the best process for imaging your records.
Regulations
The Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Medicare Conditions of Participation (MCP) require that patient and medical records must be retained for specified periods. Much of this information contains patient health information (PHI) that must be protected under HIPAA.
HIPPA act
When Congress passed the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in 1996, they set forth various provisions for the privacy of protected health information (PHI) during diagnosis, treatment, and billing for medical issues. As a result of this regulation, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued the Privacy Rule to guide healthcare providers through the implementation of HIPAA-compliant processes and procedures. The federal government has mandated HIPPA compliance must completed by April 13, 2003.
